Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to pack for my kids?

The children will get dirty and may go through multiple outfits in any given day, so we recommend that you pack accordingly. Please put your children's name on each item.

Essential packing list:

Small backpack for everyday use
Hat/Sunglasses
Water bottle
Wet weather gear (Rain jacket, spare socks)
Outdoor appropriate shoes for running or walking (no flip-flops)
Wet wipes and/or tissues

Not necessary (provided at camp), but recommended:

Mosquito Spray
Sunscreen
First aid kit (protective facemask, hand sanitiser, antibiotic cream, antiseptic wipes, band aids etc.)
Snacks

What time is drop off and pick up each day?

Drop off is 9 AM each day, and pick up is 3:30 PM.

Is the camp conducted in English? What level of English is required for children to participate?

Yes, the camp is in English. Activities are designed to be hands-on and visual so that language barriers are minimized. No English level is required to join camp. All staff are kid-friendly and Japanese-speaking staff are available for assistance.

Is lunch provided?

Daily lunch is provided for Shizen Program.

Swimsuit (For lake swimming)

Warm clothes (pants or leggings, and a jacket or cardigan, as mornings and evenings can be cool)
Sleeping bag (available to rent)
Towel

What time is drop-off and pick-up each day?

Drop-off is at 09:00 each day, and pick-up is at 16:00, depending on the afternoon activity. Both drop-off and pick-up will take place at The Orchards.

Is lunch provided?

For the Moiwa Program, lunch is provided from Monday to Wednesday. For the Family Program, participants are responsible for their own lunch, though arrangements can be made for an additional fee. Lunch and dinner are provided on Thursday during the overnight camping, as well as breakfast on Friday.

Is the camp conducted in English, and what level of English proficiency is required for participants?

Yes, the camp is conducted in English. Activities are hands-on and visually oriented to minimize language barriers, so no specific level of English is required to participate. All staff are experienced in working with children, and Japanese-speaking staff are available to assist as needed.

We're thinking of signing up for two weeks. Will the children do the same activities again?

We rotate our activity schedule every two weeks, so campers attending for two consecutive weeks will enjoy a new set of experiences during their stay.

My child is too young for the program. Can they join the camping trip at the end of the week?

Yes. Children as young as six months are welcome to join the camping trip. Please note that additional participants beyond the registered camper and parent will incur an additional fee.

What happens if the weather is bad for the overnight camping trip?

If weather conditions make outdoor camping unsafe or uncomfortable, we provide an indoor camping alternative. The final decision on whether to remain outdoors or move indoors will be made in consultation with participants.

Do we need to bring our own camping gear?

If outdoor camping becomes unsafe or uncomfortable, we offer indoor camping as an alternative. We’ll check with participants to decide whether to stay outdoors or move indoors.

Can we reserve sleeping bags for the camping trip?

Yes. Sleeping bag and mat sets are available to rent for ¥4,900 per set. Please let us know when booking if you would like to reserve one.

What should my child bring to residential program?

Please pack enough clothing and toiletries for the full duration of the program (6 nights, 7 days). All items should be clearly labeled with your child’s name.

What is check-in & check-out day like?

Program check-in at the EdVenture Activity Center is at 15:00 on Sundays. For campers traveling alone and requiring airport transfer, arrival times to new Chitose Aiport must be no later than 13:00.

Check-out is on Saturday at 10:00. For campers returning along and requiring airport transfers, please schedule domestic flights departing after 12:00 and international flights departing after 14:00.

All airport transfers are subject to availability and incur an additional fee.

What is the accommodation like for residential campers?

Accommodations are dormitory-style, with bunk beds in each room for up to four campers. Every room features a private shower, toilet, and a shared sink. Boys and girls are assigned to separate rooms. An EdVenture staff member will stay on-site in a separate room to provide supervision and care.

Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and one towel per child are provided. Campers are required to bring any additional personal toiletries they may need.

Can my child bring their phone or other smart device?

Yes; However, to help campers stay engaged, activities are device-free. Phones can be used during free time in the evening.

Are meals provided?

All meals are included for residential programs. During certain activities, campers will have the opportunity to cook for themselves under staff supervision. For a detailed daily meal schedule, please refer to the overview page.
