COVID-19 and EdVenture Programs

As the COVID-19 (coronavirus) public health situation continues to play out, we know you’ve probably wondered about how its spread will impact your child’s experience with us. Believe us when we say we have too! As we plan with caution, we’re still preparing for our program to be one that your child will remember for years to come. To do our part in making that possible, we are continuing to focus on our number one priority - your child.

Medical Safety at edVenture Camp

Your child’s medical safety is extremely important to us. Our base, The Orchards Niseko, is located 5 minutes drive from the Niseko International Clinic and 20 minutes drive to Kutchan-Kosei General Hospital.

All of our team members are first aid trained, we have a nut free food policy and we place an emphasis on proper hydration each day.

Pre-Camp Screening and Testing

As part of the new camp safety protocol, we will enforce mandatory pre-camp screening and testing to ensure the safety of all campers, parents and guardians throughout the use of an online survey prior to camp.

Prior to arrival, your child should be free of a fever for 14 days.  We will be collecting a temperature check form for each child at the beginning of each day.  We ask that parents take responsibility to take their child’s temperature at their accommodation and if they are 37.6ºC/99.7ºF or higher please stay at home.  If that is not possible, we will have thermometers at daily registration and parents can perform the temperature check onsite each day. For the safety of children involved in camp, the EdVenture team members will also be temperature checked before camp everyday. If a child or team member is feeling unwell, displays symptoms or are suspected positive for COVID-19 during camp, we will immediately isolate and coordinate care with local health facilities to obtain testing and treatment.

  • Mandatory online pre-camp survey
  • Temperature check for every camper onsite each day
  • Temperature check for EdVenture team members before greeting camp members
  • Isolation if displaying suspected symptoms

Camper Cleanliness and Sanitation

We want to assure parents, children and our team members that we are taking appropriate and responsive measures to ensure the highest standard of cleanliness are met.

There will be use of hand sanitiser when entering and exiting each building. We’ll be requesting extra time for thorough hand washing with soap and water prior to each meal and snack break. Frequent cleaning of high touch areas will also be maintained. Finally, there will be collaboration with our new food service provider, TOMO Restaurant, to use best hygiene practices for dining ware and utensils.

  • Hand sanitiser provided to all on arrival each morning and departure each afternoon
  • Thorough hand washing at mealtimes
  • Sanitary dining ware and utensil practices
  • Disinfection of all high touch areas on a frequent basis
  • Intensive disinfection and sanitising after each activity of equipment

We make a fuss about safety, so your children can make a fuss about fun

During each program, safety is our top priority, due to the COVID-19 outbreak we are determined to build on our safety priority to ensure that all parents or guardians can believe that their children can enjoy their time without a worry. Trust us to do the fussing, allowing you to enjoy your time in Niseko.
